Correspondent, 14 September 2024 (Haryana): The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has condemned the brutal assault on a madrasa student in Kinavakkal, Kannur.
The student, from Vizhinjam, reported being severely abused, including being burned with an iron rod, after raising concerns about corporal punishment. The SHRC has called the incident a serious human rights violation and has directed the police to investigate and submit a report within a week.
The student, who arrived at madrasa last May, is currently receiving medical treatment at Vizhinjam hospital.
Allegedly, the student was tortured severely by a teacher after complaining about corporeal punishments at the institution.
